Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Description

Location: Remote or Hybrid (United States)

Are you the kind of leader who sees through financial fog, brings calm to chaos, and gives CEOs the confidence to make decisive moves?

CxORE is seeking a Fractional CFO with rare financial superpowers: the ability to simplify complexity, stabilize organizations, and strengthen both systems and people.

This role is designed for a seasoned executive who operates with presence, precision, and purpose. Someone who can diagnose issues quickly, restore order, and help organizations perform at a higher level.

Role Impact

As a trusted partner to CEOs and executive teams, you will shape financial direction, strengthen operational foundations, and prepare organizations for what comes next. Your impact will be felt in sharper decisions, steadier leadership, stronger teams, and healthier financial systems. You do more than report numbers; you create clarity that moves organizations forward.

Core Areas of Leadership

Strategic Finance: Guide planning, forecasting, cash strategy, and enterprise wide financial decision making with foresight and discipline.

Operational Stabilization: Assess quickly and strengthen core processes, controls, and team capabilities without disrupting momentum

Performance and Growth Enablement: Build financial models, KPI frameworks, and decision support tools that translate insight into action and enable scalable growth.

Technology and Systems Advancement: Advance financial system maturity and data visibility through practical, modern solutions that teams actually adopt.

Leadership and Culture: Lead with calm authority and model trust, transparency, and collaboration that elevates performance and culture.

Success Profile

The ideal leader demonstrates a strategic mindset and the ability to connect financial insight to organizational priorities. They show situational adaptability and bring structure to ambiguity quickly. They are results oriented, with a track record of disciplined execution and measurable improvement. They build trust through clear communication, integrity, and steady leadership. They simplify complexity into clear, actionable pathways and are committed to developing finance teams through coaching, clarity, and high expectations.

Experience Requirements

  • Ten or more years of senior finance leadership experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or equivalent.

  • Proven ability to stabilize organizations and lead through transition or change.

  • Strong command of financial systems, reporting discipline, and operational rigor.

  • Experience with nonprofit accounting or the ability to quickly develop proficiency.

  • Comfortable managing multiple client engagements in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Prior fractional, advisory, or consulting experience.

  • Experience supporting organizations through growth, scaling, or operational transformation.

  • Familiarity with platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or comparable systems.

What You Bring

  • Prior fractional, advisory or consulting experience.

  • Executive presence that builds confidence with CEOs, boards, and teams.

  • Calm, structured leadership style that reduces noise and sharpens focus.

  • Culture first mindset grounded in collaboration, transparency, and accountability.

  • Genuine passion for strengthening organizations through both people and systems.
